"This MSc Maritime Engineering Science programme covers the core subjects of Maritime Engineering Science for both the design and analysis of marine craft and structures within the marine environment. You can choose from five pathways, each covers a broad context alongside an in-depth specialisation of your choice.
On the Marine Engineering and Autonomy pathway, you'll to study the component and systems engineering on board ships in addition to fixed and offshore structures that facilitate their functional capability.
This course is ideal if you are a graduate or professional with an engineering, scientific or mathematical background, and want to pursue a career in the maritime sector. Specialist knowledge of the discipline isn't essential, as we'll provide you with an introductory module to the fundamentals of Ship Science. "
Compulsory modules include: Fundamentals of Maritime Engineering; Maritime Safety: Risk, Environment and Law; MSc Research Project; Advanced Electrical Systems; Advanced Sensors and Condition Monitoring; Marine Engineering; Maritime Robotics.
Optional modules include: Marine Structures in Fluids; Offshore Engineering and Analysis; Renewable Energy from Environmental Flows: Wind, Wave and Tide; Failure of Materials and Components.

If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English ability by meeting our Band C requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components. For information on other accepted English language tests, please see our website.
You'll need a 2.1 degree in marine/maritime engineering, naval architecture, ship science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, physics or maths, yacht or powercraft design.
