OVERVIEW
Do you often wonder why people think, feel and behave the way they do? Do you also have a strong interest in education and how psychology applies? Then our BSc (Hons) Psychology with Education, with its contemporary curriculum with application to the modern world, is for you.
You will explore a range of core psychological perspectives to help you better understand human mind and behaviour and develop your reflective skills to understand more about the application of psychology, preparing you to reach your future goals. Alongside exploring theory in the classroom and its application to contemporary societal challenges, you will also have practical opportunities to develop your research and experimental skills in our state-of-the-art psychology lab.
Our practitioner academics and our regional partners who work in psychology-related fields will equip you to work in a diverse range of jobs or progress to study on one of our applied postgraduate courses. Practical work-based learning outside of the university and additional training around mental health are all included in this course and will ensure you are ready to put your knowledge and skills into practice.
The course will raise questions such as how do individual differences effect academic achievement? You will study modules across the psychology areas, and three bespoke modules exploring contemporary application of theory.
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE THIS COURSE
PROFESSIONAL BODY STANDARDS – Written to the standards set by the professional body for psychology and accreditation will be applied for before the course starts in September 2025
INDUSTRY-FOCUSED MODULES – You will have modules shaped to develop the skills valued by employers and get to conduct research you are passionate complete with client interaction
WORK-BASED LEARNING – In your third year of study, you will be able to put your psychological theory into practice by taking on practical work-based learning to give you real understanding of using psychology in education-related environments
NO EXAMS - If you are not keen on exams, this course is for you. Unlike many degrees in this field, you will have no written exams during or at the end of the course and will be assessed through practical assessments and coursework only
EXPERT TUITION – You will be taught and led by BPS Chartered Psychologists so you emerge as a graduate with a strong skill base for working across education-related contexts, preparing you for progression onto a MSc
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION – In your first year, you will undertake mental health first aid training to gain a certificate to use in your work-based learning or future work opportunities
FACILITIES
As a student on our BSc (Hons) Psychology with Education, you will have access to our new state-of-the-art psychology lab to develop your research skills and put your theoretical learning to the test, measuring psychophysiological responses to stimulus with our range of specialist equipment. You will also make use of our specialist software packages and equipment to help make sense of complex societal problems and be able to access simulation and immersive suites which create environments that represent those you may face in the real world.
Students will also have access to our state-of-the-art Moss House campus, which contains our Human Performance Laboratory with its 35-metre indoor running track, cutting-edge gym and anti-gravity treadmill.
