This marketing and social media course is an ideal way of building up your marketing knowledge and skills in the fast-changing world of interactive platforms.
You will learn about the marketing mix and how to add to it through strategically planned online campaigns as well as how to implement the campaigns and measure them effectively.
In particular, the course offers an insight into the marketing field of social media and performance marketing.
This will help you understand how to market brands, products and services online as well as being able to generate and successfully convert leads.
CIM Accreditation
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has approved this degree for exemptions on CIM qualifications. UWL has developed strong links with CIM and our teaching content has been developed alongside CIM’s learning outcomes to ensure that course content is aligned to industry requirements.
What you'll study
Social media marketing is an important tool within digital marketing as it allows its users to utilise social media to advertise, communicate or review products and services. The outcome is to increase brand awareness, increase customer base and improve customer relations.
Social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram) have experienced significant growth as marketing tools and are the fastest-growing field of marketing today.
Throughout the course, you will gain knowledge and understanding of various theories and practices to evaluate and implement marketing strategies. You will gain reflective skills to evaluate your own and others’ professional practice alongside independent learning skills which will help you plan your future development.
This course aims to prepare students for employment as marketing professionals starting in junior positions. Once you have sufficient experience you will be able to progress to higher management roles in a variety of organisations.
The course will enable you to look into starting your own business or consultation services in marketing and social media.
CIM Accreditation
This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. When you graduate, provided you have passed specific accredited modules on your course, you will be exempted on an Accredited Prior Learning (APL) basis from the CIM modules ‘Applied Marketing' and 'Planning Campaigns’. You will be required to pass one further elective module to obtain the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing or the CIM Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing qualification.
You may also be exempted on an Accredited Prior Learning (APL) basis from the CIM module 'Marketing and Digital Strategy'. You will be required to pass two further CIM modules, including 'Innovation in Marketing' and an elective module of your choice to obtain the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing. Alternatively, if you pass the CIM modules 'Digital Optimisation' and 'The Digital Customer Experience', then you would be able to obtain the CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing; if you pass the CIM module ‘Innovation in Marketing and Sustainability’, then you would be able to obtain the CIM Diploma in Sustainable Marketing.
*Eligibility for the CIM exemptions would be conditional upon attempting and passing the relevant modules on this UWL course and graduating with a degree classification of 2:2 or higher. CIM also requires that you send evidence of graduation to the CIM Qualifications Team, sign up to study with CIM and pass the additional units within five years of graduation for exemptions to be valid.
