Course summary

  • You will have clinical experience from the first month of the programme in a variety of locations; hospitals, General Practice and the wider health community

  • You’ll learn in small groups of 8-9 using real life clinical examples

  • You will gain an excellent understanding of the basic and clinical sciences necessary to be a doctor

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - A*AA

Excluding General Studies. Chemistry and Biology at Grade A required.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*DD

Applicants studying a BTEC Extended Diploma will also require GCE AL Biology and Chemistry grade A.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits

Pass the Access to HE Diploma with 30 L3 credits at Distinction grade and 15 L3 Credits at Merit grade. To include 15 L3 credits at Distinction grade in Biology and 15 L3 credits at Distinction grade in Chemistry. Please also see our GCSE requirements.

Scottish Higher - AAAAA

Chemistry and Biology at Grade A required.

Scottish Advanced Higher - AAA

Chemistry and Biology at Grade A required.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 38 points

Applicants will be considered with IB 38 OR 766 in three Higher Level subjects. All applicants will be required to have Grade 6 in HL Chemistry and Biology.

Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT)
All applicants who do not have GCE A level or equivalent results or who completed A levels more than two full academic years (September to August) previously, will be required to sit GAMSAT, regardless of any other qualification held.
University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)
The UK Clinical Aptitude Test is used by the majority of UK Medical Schools. Further information is available on the UKCAT website. We require all applicants to sit the UKCAT test unless you are offering the GAMSAT test (see below)

English language requirements

GCSE English Language with a minimum pass of Grade B or 6
