Course summary

Studied side-by-side, these two subjects give you the skills and knowledge needed to wrap your head around how companies work from both the inside and outside. This degree will hone your skills so you can find specialist roles out in the field.

Our degree will give you the opportunity to study two interrelated subjects, providing you with a comprehensive knowledge of the key areas of economics and accounting.

You will be introduced to techniques of accounting, such as financial reporting, management accounting, auditing and taxation. If you choose to take our Economics and Accounting BSc you will have the opportunity to gain exemptions from certain professional exams through CIMA, ACCA, ACA (offered by the ICAEW), and ICAS giving you a head-start in a career in accountancy. These exemptions are dependent upon the satisfactory completion of certain modules.

An optional year studying abroad or undertaking an industry placement will enhance your skills and build your professional network. Your time with us will also equip you with the research techniques that are vital to postgraduate study.

The close relationship between research and teaching is one of the great advantages of studying with us, and we welcome talented students from countries all over the world. Our staff are active researchers of international renown, and have acted as advisers and consultants to many international and national organisations, including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Poland, the Central Bank of Greece and a number of UK Government departments. Many of our academics also have experience as practitioners in industry.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD

Business Extended diploma with a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5/B including Maths and English Language. Science or Engineering Extended Diplomas may also be considered please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits

Business or social science course preferred but other subjects considered.

Scottish Higher

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Business or Science National Diploma considered with 1 A-level. For other combinations please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Business or Science Foundation Diploma considered with 1 A-level and 1 AS-level. For other combinations please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 30 points

Minimum of grade 4 in SL Maths Analysis and Approach or 6 in SL Maths Application and Interpretation or 4 in HL Maths if not held at GCSE. Must include a minimum of grade 4 in English A or 5 in English B if minimum of grade 4/C not held in English Language at GCSE.

WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics grade 5 (B) and GCSE English Language grade 4 (C) is also required for all qualifications where no other specific GCSE requirement is given.

T Level - D

Must be in Finance. Must also hold 5 GCSE's with grade 5 in each to include Maths and English
