The agricultural sector is experiencing a transformative era, driven by evolving government policies at local, national, European, and global levels, alongside shifting consumer expectations. Our Agricultural Science degree programme is designed to equip students with the scientific knowledge, practical skills, and strategic insight required to thrive in this dynamic environment. Grounded in core scientific principles and enhanced by the latest technologies and best practices, this programme offer a comprehensive and future-focused education.

Graduates will develop expertise in:

  • The fundamentals of modern sciences for agriculture

  • Sustainable crop and animal production systems, underpinned by scientific, economic, and business principles

  • The role of soils and nutrient management in sustainable landscape stewardship

  • Ruminant microbiome and climate smart feeds for the future

  • Big data and AI in the agricultural sector

  • Agricultural business management and entrepreneurship

The Professional Studies pathway offers additional opportunities to explore the practical application of knowledge in the workplace, gain experience both at home and abroad, and develop critical career networks and management skills.

A level - BBB - ABB

A-level Biology or Double Award Science required. A-level General Studies and Critical Thinking are normally excluded from offers. However, the grade achieved may be taken into account when results are published in August and may be used in a tie-break situation.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H3, H3, H3, H3, H4, H4 - H3, H3, H3, H3, H3

To include Higher Level grade H3 in Biology. If not offered at Higher Level then Ordinary Level grade O4 in Chemistry, English and Mathematics.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at grade C or better. GCSE Double Award Science grades CC acceptable in lieu of GCSE Biology and Chemistry. Scottish National 5 Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at grade C or better.
