Inspire the next generation with the power of Mathematics
Turn your passion for maths into a rewarding and impactful career. Our PGCE in Secondary Education (Mathematics) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is designed to develop confident, creative, and reflective teachers who are ready to make a difference in the classroom from day one.
This university-based course combines two school placements with dynamic, research-informed university sessions. You’ll explore how to teach for deep understanding, tackle common misconceptions, and use a wide range of manipulatives and visual representations to bring abstract concepts to life.
What you should know about this course:
Expert-Led Learning: Learn from experienced tutors and guest speakers from across the mathematics education community
Hands-On Pedagogy: We focus on different forms of representation, including the use of manipulatives, and thinking about maths from different perspectives
Research-Informed Practice: Engage with cutting-edge educational research and apply it directly to your classroom practice
Inclusive and Decolonised Curriculum: Learn to teach in ways that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, and how might this be applicable to Maths
Strong School Partnerships: Benefit from our extensive network of partner schools, many of which go on to employ our trainees.
All degree courses are made of modules – individual units of study on different topics. Some modules are compulsory; others can be chosen from a list of options. Our website has full details of your degree structures. Module content, and how each is module is assessed. The direct link to this course on our website, can be found at the bottom of this page.
