This degree offers you the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence before you advance to stage one of your honours degree.

Why choose this course?
Join this challenging and varied business management degree to learn about organisations, their management and the global environments in which they operate. You’ll learn new ways of thinking as well as a host of practical skills, and be challenged to apply these to real-world business and management scenarios, through projects, placements and internships. On this course, everyone gets to do business as well as learn about business. This course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Is this course for you?
Including a foundation year as part of your four-year study programme will give you a head start in your academic and professional life. The foundation year offers the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence – with extensive support from our expert staff – before you advance to stage one of your honours degree. It could also be beneficial if you are planning a career change and want to get to grips with aspects of subjects which are new to you. Our degrees with a foundation year are continuous, meaning that you won’t need to apply again once you have successfully completed the first year.

How you will learn
From the get-go, you'll be thinking about how to apply what you're learning, through topical case studies, business simulations, real consultancy projects and work placements.

Opportunities and experiences
Ours was the UKs first course to guarantee every student an external Chartered Management Institute (CMI) mentor throughout their studies. Mentors coach you from a business perspective and demonstrate how management theory can be applied in the workplace. You'll also have the opportunity to take an optional placement year or summer internship.

Careers and employability
This course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, which means you gain an extra professional qualification on top of your degree as well as professional mentoring and access to CMI member benefits. We’ll help you prepare for a career in a global business environment that is rapidly changing, by supporting you to become more agile, innovative and resilient. You will also develop self-learning and team-working skills, which are crucial to success in the professional sphere.
