Business Management with a Year in Industry

BSc Business Management is designed for curious, forward-thinking minds, who are ready to gain a deeper understanding of how organisations work, ideas grow and how change happens on a local and global scale. You will explore the values that define modern business – sustainability, inclusivity, ethics, and innovation, and discover how you can make a difference.

Our programme blends theory and hands-on learning, ensuring you build a solid foundation in key business areas, such as finance, economics, marketing, analytics, and enterprise. Your studies will be enriched through regular connection with businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators, as you benefit from our strong partnerships with local and international organisations.

You will be taught from a research-led and industry informed curriculum that adopts a global-lens approach, linking theory directly to industry trends and real-world issues. You will be empowered to thrive in diverse professional contexts, making meaningful contributions to the running of businesses and responding effectively to global economic, political and environmental challenges.

The third year of this 4-year course with a Year in Industry will be spent on placement. You will have the opportunity to gain real-world industry experience and develop your employability skill set. We have a strong network of industry contacts, and you will receive dedicated support from our in-house employability team, ranging from CV advice through to mock interviews.

The optional Foundation Year for this programme can give you an exciting introduction to higher education, setting you up with the skills, confidence, and knowledge that you’ll need to be successful in your undergraduate degree. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education, or are returning to education after a gap. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress onto Year 1 of your BSc.

In Year 1, you will typically study areas including: Accounting for Managers, Managing People, Key Skills for Business, The Global Context of Organisation, Operations Management.

In Year 2, you will typically study areas including: Employability Skills, Economics for Business.

In Year 3, you undertake a One year industrial placement.

In Year 4, you will typically study areas including: Financial Market Efficiency, Investment Banking, Financial Services, International Human Resource Management. You will also undertake a Final Year Project.

We offer a variety of assessment methods within our programmes. In addition to traditional examinations and essays, examples of alternative assessment include:

• Reflective Log
