The course is delivered at University Centre Myerscough and awarded by the University of Lancashire.

The course is designed to enable students to achieve a vocational Higher Education qualification through online, part-time study. For those of you already employed in the sportsturf industry, traditional modes of attendance are not possible, and this qualification will help to overcome this barrier and enable you to take the next step in your career. If you are seeking to develop your skills and knowledge in sportsturf provision and management and want to progress to more senior positions at the many prestigious sporting venues around the world, this is the course for you. The course provides the learner with a sound basis in the science and practice of turfgrass management for sport and recreation.

Modules

Year 1 - Academic and Vocational Skills; Essential Plant and Soil Science; Principles and Practices of Turfgrass Management (double module).
Year 2 - Turfgrass Growth and Development; Performance Management of Sportsturf Surfaces; Integrated Pest Management; Sportsturf Surface Construction and Drainage Systems.
Year 3 - Research Methods; Environmental Plant Physiology; Industry Project; Environmental Management and Sustainability.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 48 points

A level - CE

AS levels may be used to contribute to entry requirements but they are not sufficient for entry on their own.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - PPP

Alternative equivalent Level 3 qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080) will also be considered.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 0 credits M: 0 credits P: 45 credits

Scottish Higher - CCD

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MP

Alternative equivalent Level 3 qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (720) will also be considered.

Scottish Advanced Higher - CD

T Level - P - D*

We accept technical level qualifications to be used either as a standalone qualification to meet the UCAS tariff points or in combination with other qualifications to contribute to the total number of UCAS tariff points

Normally 5 GCSEs Including Maths and English (or equivalents) are required, however, applicants are advised to check with the University Centre if they do not possess the specific qualifications.

The University Centre may consider applicants with work experience within a relevant industry in place of some qualifications.

Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis.
