The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Engineering is a one-year qualification preparing students for careers in engineering or progression to a Level 6 degree. It combines theory with practical application through specialist units such as Professional Engineering Management, Further Mathematics, Embedded and Control Systems. Students gain problem-solving, design, and management skills, enhancing employability for roles like Project Manager or Design Engineer, with recognition from professional bodies.

This Higher Technical Qualification is approved against occupational standards decided by employers.

Unit 5002: Professional Engineering Management (Pearson-set) – 15 credits
Unit 5006: Further Mathematics – 15 credits
Unit 5007: Commercial Programming Software – 15 credits
Unit 5008: Distributed Control Systems – 15 credits
Unit 5010: Further Electrical Machines and Drives – 15 credits
Unit 5013: Embedded Systems – 15 credits
Unit 5014: Analogue Electronic Systems – 15 credits
Unit 5021: Further Control Systems Engineering – 15 credits
There will be a range of assessment methods used through practical application, which may include practical sessions, essays, reports, presentations and projects
