Animal Behaviour and Training

The BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training is an exciting and forward-thinking degree designed for anyone passionate about understanding animals and improving their wellbeing. Throughout the course, you’ll develop a deep and scientifically grounded understanding of behaviour, learning theory, welfare, and modern training approaches. You’ll explore real-world case studies, examine current research, and gain the confidence to analyse behaviour, solve problems creatively, and work ethically and effectively within this diverse and evolving industry.

As you progress, you’ll build strong practical and professional skills, learning how to communicate clearly with owners, clients, and other specialists, while applying evidence-based techniques to support and improve animal behaviour and welfare. WCUC students are also eligible to register with the ABTC as Animal Training Instructors (ATI) and Animal Behaviour Technicians (ABT), a valuable professional recognition that enhances your employability and signals to employers that you meet high industry standards. This accreditation helps open doors to a wide range of exciting careers, preparing you to make a meaningful impact in the rapidly growing field of animal behaviour and training.

Assessments on this programme are entirely coursework-based, using a varied and creative range of methods such as portfolios, skills logs, oral assessments, time-constrained tasks, practical assessments, written reports, posters, and role-play scenarios.
