Course summary

The UAL Level 4 Professional diploma in performance (Music Production) has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into higher education or support students intending to progress directly into employment in the music industry. Throughout the year you will refine your practical skills using our industry standard facilities whilst working on a variety of industry led briefs. You will have opportunity throughout the year to set up, perform and tech at a variety of different venues, work collaboratively with other creative departments and receive specialist training.

Modules

Unit 1: Live Event

Kickstart your year with a dynamic live event, where you can showcase your performance skills or take the lead in event production. Whether you're on stage or behind the scenes, this unit offers hands-on experience, teamwork opportunities, and the chance to bring a creative vision to life in a professional setting.

Unit 2: Live Sound / Performance for Screen

Develop your skills through engaging workshops focused on live sound engineering or performing for the screen. Learn to master industry-standard techniques, whether it’s setting up audio for live events or delivering captivating performances on camera. This unit combines hands-on practice with expert guidance, preparing you for creative success in professional environments.

Unit 3: Final Major Project

Apply the skills you've developed throughout the year in your chosen area—performance, live sound, sound for screen, production, or event management—to complete your final major project. This significant project will showcase your abilities and creativity, determining your grade for the year. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate your growth, initiative, and expertise in a professional-standard production.

A Level 3 extended diploma in Music Production or a relevant subject at a pass grade. Ideally GCSE English at Grade 4 or equivalent.
