Diversity in Computing Bursary

Scholarship information

Designed to inspire more young women to pursue a career in computer science and IT.

Buckingham’s School of Computing is committed to inspiring more young women to pursue careers in computing and IT. We are delighted to offer a £2,000 scholarship or a bursary to female, undergraduate Computing students.

According to UCAS, women are now 35% more likely to go to university than men. However, fewer than 20% of these women are likely to apply to study subjects categorised as “Mathematical and Computing Sciences” by Times Higher Education.

“For prospective students, I’d say Buckingham has a lot to offer, both in terms of academic support and community. The university and students here are very supportive, and there’s a place for everyone.” Linaya, Computing student

We want to change that and encourage females to consider studying Computing undergraduate degree programmes with us. One way we are endeavouring to achieve this is by offering female applicants a Diversity in Computing Scholarship or Bursary, often alongside other sources of funding which are available to everyone. We are able to do this thanks to the generosity of alumnus Mr Weiyou Cui whose generous donation to the University is specifically for supporting female students who are studying Computing at The University of Buckingham.
