The Care Experienced Bursary is available to students who can provide confirmation of their care-experienced status from their local authority.

Please email your expression of eligibility for the Care Experienced Bursary to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by 5pm on 26th June 2026. Students are required to provide evidence of their care experienced status; this must be in the form of an original letter from your Local Authority outlining your care leaver status, or time living in care.
The Bursary is worth £1000 per academic year of study (pro-rata), plus £1000 to help with start-up costs to a maximum of £4000
Awards cannot be claimed retrospectively for previous academic years.
The Bursary is paid in three instalments each academic year: normally September, January, and May.
The funding will support one student through up to three years of study
Students cannot receive more than one Care Leaver, Estranged student, and Refugee Bursary. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of these Bursaries, then it will be at the discretion of the Financial Awards Committee which Bursary you receive.
