Blackburn Bursary

Scholarship information

The Blackburn Bursary provides extra support for students coming to the University who have previously received local authority care and are defined as 'care leavers' as determined in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.

Bursary Amount

The bursary is a set amount of £1,500 paid to eligible students over two instalments during each year of study.

The first instalment of £500 is paid upon approval of application following enrolment. The second instalment of £1,000 is paid upon successful completion of that year of study.

Eligibility

Students must be a ‘Home’ student, which is determined by the funding provider (e.g. Student Finance England) and not the student status that University of Lincoln allocates to you.

  • EU students and international students are not eligible.

Students must be officially enrolled and studying a first degree at Undergraduate level.

Students studying on a part-time basis, must have a course intensity of at least 25% of a full-time equivalent.

Students must be under the age of 25.

Students must have been in the care of, or have been given accommodation by, their local authority.

Their time in care must have lasted at least 13 weeks.

Their time in care must have ended after they turned 16.

Students must not have returned to the care of their parent(s) prior to the first day of the first academic year of their course.

Students must not have previously received the Blackburn Bursary for the same year of study.

Applications for a Blackburn Bursary must be made through the Student Funding Team in the Student Support Centre, who can be contacted by emailing studentfundingteam@lincoln.ac.uk

Please note that you cannot be awarded both the Blackburn Bursary and Foyer/Supported Housing Bursary.
