The St. Nicholas Scholarship will award three students £2,500 per year* (to a total of £7,500) during their Undergraduate studies. The money can be used to enhance the student’s learning and their overall university experience.
To be eligible for the St Nicholas Scholarship you must:
- Be a UK/Home applicant with 'Home' fee status - This includes students domiciled in Jersey, Guernsey, The Channel Islands, Ireland and Isle of Man
- Be under 25 years old
- Have applied and accepted an offer for a Full-Time Undergraduate degree commencing September 2026
- Currently live within the boundaries of Newcastle upon Tyne, and have been a permanent resident within the boundaries of Newcastle upon Tyne for five years or more. Eligible postcodes include: NE1, NE2, NE3, NE4, NE5, NE6, NE7, and some areas of NE12, NE13 and NE15
- Have a household income of under £25,000
- Choose Northumbria as your firm choice by 30 June 2026

- All three-year Undergraduate courses. If you choose to undertake a course that includes a placement year, the St. Nicholas Scholarship will not be paid in that year
