Hereford Bursary
Scholarship information
The Hereford Bursary is made possible through an award from the Castle Sychrov Fund administered by the Herefordshire Community Foundation.
The Hereford Bursary, provides a total cash award of £15,000, distributed in three equal instalments of £5,000 at key progression points throughout your undergraduate degree programme at NMITE. The Hereford Bursary is designed to provide financial support for disadvantaged students from the county of Herefordshire who need financial support to access higher education programmes at NMITE.
The first instalment is paid two weeks after the start of your programme including full attendance at welcome activities; the following instalments are awarded upon the successful progression to the next two levels of study.
This generous cash bursary supports students pursuing a degree in Engineering or Construction Management at NMITE.

Eligibility Criteria and Evidence requirements:
To be considered for the Hereford Bursary, applicants must:
- Reside in Herefordshire (provide official letter with postcode)
- Be joining as a new NMITE student in September 2026 on an undergraduate programme, with or without Foundation Year
- Have accepted your formal offer to study
- Be in receipt of free school meals and/or the Pupil premium in secondary education (provide official entitlement letter from Herefordshire Council or school/previous setting)
- Should be the first in family to attend higher education (provide a letter confirming from a professional (ie vicar, teacher, doctor etc) who has known the applicant for a minimum of 2 years
Application and selection process:
- Make a direct entry or UCAS application to study at NMITE
You’ll be notified if your application to study at NMITE is successful and made a formal offer of a place in the September 2026 intake; you must formally accept your offer- To apply, please email bursaries@nmite.ac.uk , using the wording ‘Hereford Bursary’ in the email header and provide evidence that you meet all eligibility criteria by 13 May 2026
- Your eligibility will be reviewed by the NMITE Financial Awards Committee and once eligibility is confirmed, you will be contacted to provide a short personal statement (500 words or less) on how being in receipt of the Hereford Bursary will make a difference to you and your ability to study at NMITE
By making an application and providing evidence of eligibility, you are agreeing to your personal statement being shared with Castle Sychrov Fund via administration by the Herefordshire Community Foundation.
Personal statements and applications will be reviewed by the NMITE Financial Awards Committee, and the recipient of the award chosen on merit.
The successful applicant statement will be anonymised and provided to the Herefordshire Community Foundation for final Trustee approval to release the bursary funds.
Once approval has been received from the Herefordshire Community Foundation, the recipient will be notified by NMITE.
On accepting the award, the recipient is agreeing to their personal details (name, address, email address) being provided to the Herefordshire Community Foundation. Bursary payments will be made directly to the award recipient.
You must have formally enroled on to your programme at NMITE to receive the funds following an award of the funding.
If successful in receiving this award, you will be required to provide an annual update on your progress and experience at NMITE which will be shared with the Herefordshire Community Foundation. If you choose to accept the funding, you will be asked to sign an NMITE Financial Award Agreement and agree to the general Financial Awards Terms and Conditions.
