The Manchester Science and Engineering Excellence Scholarships

The Excellence Scholarships are open to all UK fee-paying students applying for undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Science and Engineering starting September 2026.

There are 25 awards for £2,000 per year of study (up to four years), awarded to the highest performing applicants in each discipline who are WP, WP+ or WP++ and meet the criteria below. Awards will be made based on the information provided in the UCAS application and achieved results at A-level. 

Awardees will be contacted after registration in Semester 1.

To be considered, you need to:

• be recognised as a UK resident and be paying home (UK) fees;
• have an offer to study an undergraduate engineering course at The University of Manchester, starting September 2026.
• have chosen Manchester as your firm choice during the main UCAS cycle;
• meet the WP, WP+ or WP++ flag;
• maintain a 60% average performance for each year of your degree.

There is no separate application form. All eligible UK students who hold an offer of a place within the Faculty at The University of Manchester will be considered for a scholarship.

The awards are also open to students completing a foundation year.

Payment will not be made during the Industrial Experience Year.
