My name is Kimaro Novat Kairuntu, a PhD student at the University of Essex in the UK. My educational background is a blend of economics and mathematics, with a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines. I advanced my expertise by earning an MSc in Applied Mathematics, where I deepened my understanding of complex mathematical concepts and their real-world applications. Currently, my PhD research focuses on financial derivatives, a field that combines my passion for mathematical modeling with practical financial applications.
Looking ahead, my career plans involve advancing the intersection of applied mathematics and finance, particularly in financial derivatives. My educational journey and professional experiences have provided me with a strong foundation to contribute meaningfully to both academia and industry. Both my secondary school and sixth form college were state schools, my college being the University of Liverpool Maths School (because that's how much I love maths), so I'm very passionate about Northern and state school representation at Durham university, so much so that my friends and I set up a Northern society in college.

I am a 2nd Chemistry and mathematics student at the university of Lincoln originally from a town in London. My favourite modules in my degree would be the physical and organic modules in chemistry, additionally calculus and differentiation have also been modules I have enjoyed these past 2 years at Uni. I am a musical theatre fan who was in the society last year and is now the Choreographer of the society this year that I do in my spare time and started badminton this year that I go to every week. The social life in Lincoln outside of studying is so exciting. I enjoy going out shopping and going on nights out with my friends and seeing the beautiful sights of the city.

Before starting my Masters Degree at Reading, I studied a BA in Graphic Design at the University of Brighton graduating in 2019. Since then I worked in a variety of jobs across the design industry before deciding to specialise and go back to study Book Design. 
When I complete my Masters Degree I plan on working abroad in exciting studios and eventually hope to set up my own design studio too!
