Hi ! I'm Omar, an international student from Egypt. I have been at Brunel since 2021 studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Since then I have found myself immersed in every aspect of it whether it is engaging with the diverse societies or focused in my lectures. Brunel offers me the mix that creates an exceptional balance between studies and social life.

Electronic and Electrical Engineering
Hello,
I’m Shiam Rahman, and I’m currently studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Brunel University.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by electronic devices and how they work. Electrical engineering is like the "black magic" of engineering—it’s all happening behind the scenes, and yet, every little interaction, like the click of a button, is the result of someone’s design and innovation. I’m excited to dive deeper into how these systems work and, one day, be part of the tech industry that shapes our future.
Beyond engineering, I have a strong passion for art and design. I love drawing and painting people, and I also have skills in graphic design, image manipulation, and animation. My creative side really complements my technical interests, and I enjoy finding ways to blend the two.
At Brunel, I also work as a Student Recruitment and Widening Access Ambassador. It’s such a rewarding experience, and I love being part of a community that is all about supporting each other. Brunel is a fantastic place to study, make new friends, and take advantage of amazing facilities and support. I’d love to see you here!

Hi there! I am a PhD Student who recently graduated from Strathclyde with a MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Applications.
I started my PhD in Design Manufacturing and Engineering Management in October and have been enjoying working on my project ‘Cognitive Biases in Conceptual Design’
In my free time, I enjoy exploring both Scotland and abroad, but particularly this beautiful country. Some of my favourite memories from Strathclyde have been the sports ball, a mountaineering trip to Glencoe, and attending fight nights. I have had so many great experiences from my time as a student here from from being a sports union volunteer to becoming a class rep.
I am happy to chat about anything regarding Glasgow, academia, and any other aspects of student life

Simply put, my plan is to be the bridge between industrial practices (especially in the Oil and Gas industry) and Sustainability. Those two things do not have to be parallel lines. They can run together, and I will make it a norm.

Engineering
Hi! I’m Hannah, a second-year student studying Neural Engineering with Psychology. My degree isn’t one that’s very well known but I love it. It combines Psychology, Engineering and Computer Science. In my next couple of years, I will cover areas like AI, brain computer-interfaces and neuroscience. If that sounds like your sort of thing, then definitely go check it out and feel free to ask me any questions about my experience so far. I mostly work in the CSEE department so I can answer questions about other courses as well. Outside of university I like to listen to music and I’m trying to get back into the gym. Ask me any questions you have, big or small, and I will try my best to answer them.

I completed my MSc in EEE from Strathclyde in 2023 and I'm currently working on my PhD in Radar and Signal Processing. I came to Glasgow in 2022, after completing my Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering from India. The student experience at Strathclyde and the beautiful city of Glasgow made this university a top choice for me. I have enjoyed every aspect of university life so far, and am looking forward to advancing in the academic research field here.

Hi! I am Nay Min and I first had the chance to start my BEng (Hons) in the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering as there was a partnership between my Polytechnic in Singapore and University of Strathclyde. Afterwards, I was offered a scholarship to continue my studies and gladly took the opportunity I was given.

My names Patrick or Paddy, I'm currently studying a masters degree in Chemical Engineering. I aim to have a carer either in the oil or food industry as those two areas interest me the most within the scope of Chemical Engineering. I'm in my third year so I know a lot about what it's like to study chemical engineering and life being a student.
Sara

Faculty of Engineering
Hello! I’m Sara, and I’ve been part of the University of Strathclyde for quite a while now. I joined for the first time in 2018, first for my Bachelor's, then for my Master's, and now as a PhD researcher in Architecture.
I’m originally from Italy, where I studied at an art school before moving to Scotland to study architecture: a path that has allowed me to combine my passion for art, design, and the way people experience spaces.
When I’m not reading papers and working on my research, I enjoy going to parks and botanical gardens (when it’s not too rainy!), going to the cinema or theatre with friends, or even just having a relaxing day in a café reading a good book.
Having lived in Glasgow for several years now, I’ve come to really appreciate what it has to offer, from its creative energy to its welcoming atmosphere for international students.
If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to share my experiences about studying and living here, as well as what it’s like to progress through undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies in architecture.
