The West Midlands is made up of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. Its main cities are Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton.

It’s the most diverse part of the country behind London, with a proud multicultural history, from the birth of Two-Tone music in Coventry – a combination of Caribbean ska and English punk – to the Balti curry, courtesy of Birmingham’s Pakistani community.

Once the heart of heavy industry and manufacturing, and the inspiration for Peaky Blinders, Birmingham is one of the youngest cities in Europe, with over 40% under 25 years old.

Campus and facilities

Newman University has a compact campus, with all halls of residence and facilities within a short walking distance of each other.

We’re located 8 miles south-west of Birmingham city centre – away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but close enough to Birmingham to easily pop into the city whenever you need to.

All our Halls are located on campus, meaning you’re just a short walk away from your lectures and all we have on offer on our student-centred campus.

Our library is open seven days a week from 7:30am–12pm. With views overlooking Bartley Reservoir, the library is a great place to study. There’s also a 24-hour IT suite on campus, plus lots of more informal study spaces.

Food and drink The Sanctuary is the main eatery on campus, serving a selection of hot and cold meals each weekday.

We also have a popular Starbucks coffee shop in the main Atrium area, selling a range of cakes and sandwiches alongside Starbucks coffee.
