We're home to a rich, diverse community of students and staff with one of the highest percentages of LGBTQ+ students in the UK. Plus, our students' union AUBSU has a range of societies to get involved in – all run by our student community – including the option to start your own!

Studying at AUB doesn't just involve mastering your creative practice. Our Student Services team are here to offer additional support, guidance and counselling, and AUB Futures work closely with industry to run networking events, connecting you to working professionals and live project opportunities throughout your studies. After you graduate, you can stay connected through our alumni network, AUB&.

The South West of England is made up of seven counties, with rural areas surrounding key student cities – from Plymouth and Bournemouth up to Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham & Gloucester.

You'll find many a festival – including the world-famous Glastonbury. And if you're a cider or cheese buff, you'll have plenty to try in the South West. You can always walk it off in Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks, or beautiful countryside from the Cotswolds to Land's End.

Cornwall, Dorset, and Devon are big coastal favourites, with idyllic beaches and waves to test the bravest surfers.

Campus and facilities

Our campus is where you'll make amazing things happen. 

You'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and award-winning spaces like the Drawing Studio, designed by renowned architect and AUB alumni Sir Peter Cook, as well as TheGallery which hosts our annual Summer Shows, showcasing graduate work and transforming AUB into the largest gallery in the South West. 

Our Innovation Studio puts collaboration at the heart of everything we do, working with exciting creative tech and hosting local businesses like Pier Journal – 12% of our research is classed as 'world-leading' (REF 2021).

Based between Bournemouth and Poole, our seaside location has plenty to offer too. As an AUB student, you're only a short trip away from award-winning beaches, a thriving arts scene and outstanding natural beauty. There's the option to live on campus in our Halls of Residence or closer to town centre, with accomodation available for all budgets.
