About us

There are many reasons to study at Bangor. Offering academic excellence, a friendly study environment and stunning surroundings, Bangor has something for everyone.

We offer the highest quality teaching in a supportive learning environment, and you can be assured that you will be taught by lecturers who want to see you thrive.

Bangor University’s research has been ranked highly in the Government’s most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), with 85% judged to be world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).

Our courses will help to set you on the right path for a successful career. You can choose to study from courses across the sciences, arts, business, law and humanities. We offer foundation degrees in many subjects and most undergraduate courses offer the option of studying for an additional year as part of the ‘International Year’ or ‘Placement Year’ scheme.

What makes us different

Student support is our priority
From Peer Guides to help you settle during your first weeks here, to help with managing your budget and mental health advice - you’ll be given as much help and support you need.

Guaranteed Accommodation
Both our student villages are within easy walking distance of most University buildings and the city centre. We guarantee a place in halls for full-time, first-year students who apply within the given timeframe (conditions apply).

Stunning surroundings
Situated between the mountains of Snowdonia and the sea, the many attractions of the area for sports enthusiasts are obvious. Even if you’re not the outward-bound type there’s still plenty to explore in the surrounding area.

Free Membership of Clubs and Societies
Joining in with clubs, societies and volunteering is a great way for you to try new things and meet new people. Our Students’ Union has over 150 different ones that you can join for free, so you can sign-up for as many as you like.

"Bangor has become a home away from home in the last year, it's a wonderful place to study. I feel fully supported by both my peers and lecturers. I'm certain there's no place quite like it."
