What your results mean

Here we'll match up what your results and offers might mean with the statuses that show up in Track.

So come back to this page if you need help understanding what your status means.

What’s happening Your Track status

You’ve accepted an offer and you’re waiting for your results to update

  • If you think they should have updated already get in touch with the university/college – see if they’re waiting on any further info or if they can advise you when to expect the final decision.
  • Remember not all applicants get their results back at the same time though, so you might have to wait a few days.
  • If you know your grades are too low but the university/college hasn’t sent their decision yet, get in touch with them because they might be willing to accept you with lower grades.

You have accepted an offer

or

We are still waiting to receive official confirmation of your place, which is subject to academic conditions

You’re accepted by your firm choice!

  • So you don’t need to do anything more in Track.
  • We'll send you a confirmation letter.
  • We or the uni/college will let you know about anything else you should do.

Congratulations! Your place at {institution name} ({institution code}) to study {course name} ({course code}) has been confirmed

You’re accepted by your firm choice and you meet and exceed the conditions of the offer

  • The same as above, and we'll send you a confirmation letter.
  • If you register for Adjustment to find a course with higher entry requirements you’ll have a set length of time to find a different course (otherwise you’ll stay at your original choice).

Congratulations! Your place at {institution name} ({institution code}) to study {course name} ({course code}) has been confirmed

Your application will be updated within the next hour

Your firm choice is unsuccessful, but you’re accepted by your insurance choice!

  • Again there’s nothing more you need to do in Track.
  • We'll send you a confirmation letter.
  • We and the uni/college will be in touch soon.

Congratulations! Your place at {institution name} ({institution code}) to study {course name} ({course code}) has been confirmed

You get a ‘changed course’ offer

  • This could be a change to the course, start date or point of entry – check in the ‘choices’ page of Track.
  • It’s usually due to you not meeting the original conditions, but the university/college still wanting to offer you a place.
  • You have five days to reply to it – if you accept, it’s yours, if you decline you’ll either go to your insurance choice (if it’s your firm choice that’s changed) or search for last minute course vacancies in our Clearing service.

We are still waiting for your reply to a changed offer

You haven’t met the conditions for either your firm or insurance choices

  • Don’t worry, you might still find something you like in our Clearing service – any courses that still have vacancies will be listed here.

Clearing has started. Identify courses (with vacancies) that interest you and contact the institutions direct to see if they will offer you a place

You didn’t get any offers

  • Again don’t worry, check out Clearing for any courses with vacancies remaining.

You are in Clearing

If you don't want an offer you've accepted

You'll have to contact the university/college to ask them if you can decline it at this stage.

  • It's a serious contractual agreement you've entered into, so you'll have to see if they'll agree to let you out of it.
  • When you have an unconditional firm offer, any insurance choice is automatically cancelled (even though it shows as unconditional insurance in Track, we will have already let the university know you're accepted elsewhere so they can offer the place to someone else). You'd have to ask to be entered into Clearing in this case and see if they can still offer you a place.
  • But remember there are no guarantees, and you can't automatically go back to your original offer.
