UCAS statement following the publication of HEPI and Kaplan’s report on international students’ expectations and experiences of careers and employability support

Commenting on today’s HEPI and Kaplan publication 'Paying more for Less? Employability support for international students at UK universities' (HEPI Report 143), Aaron Powell, Managing Director of UCAS International, said:

“Today’s report recognises international students’ contribution to our campuses, society and economy but also shows they need more help in mapping out their careers and support in developing employability skills. Each year, UCAS supports over 100,000 international students making undergraduate applications from 200 countries and territories around the world each year.

“As part of our trusted, independent role, we are launching the Myriad app for international students exploring postgraduate opportunities in the UK, supporting the aims of the International Education Strategy and making the country stand out as an accessible destination. Myriad by UCAS provides free information and advice as a new one-stop shop tailored to international students’ needs to help them make truly informed choices. Relevant information on scholarships, local accommodation and jobs in the app also gives a richer picture of the student experience on offer.

“By clearly and comprehensively showing options for postgraduate study in the UK and potential futures that it can bring, we can help to tackle the problems highlighted in today’s report.”
