About the course
Business Foundation Studies: Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is a one-year programme designed to build your academic confidence and introduce you to core business concepts.
You will develop the skills and knowledge needed for progression into undergraduate study or entry-level roles in business. On successful completion, you can progress onto a degree programme.
What you’ll study
You will gain a foundation in business principles, data analysis and academic skills.
Modules may include:
• Academic Skills and Communication
• Data Analysis and Research Skills
• Fundamentals of Business
• Exploring Business Environments

How you’ll learn
Teaching takes place through lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by experienced academic staff.
You will receive regular support from an academic guidance tutor, alongside face-to-face and online careers and study support.
With teaching delivered over no more than three days per week, you will have flexibility to undertake part-time work, placements or internships alongside your studies.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment methods include coursework, reports and online tests designed to reflect real-world business practices and develop both theoretical and practical understanding.
Future opportunities
This CertHE prepares you to progress onto an undergraduate business degree or move towards employment within the business sector.
You will also benefit from dedicated careers support to help you build your CV, prepare for interviews and connect with employers and successful graduates.
