The BA (Hons) Education course has been designed and developed as a final ‘top-up’ year progression route for work-based students who have completed a Foundation Degree in either Education or Early Childhood Studies, or any other education-based foundation degree or its equivalent. This one year top-up course therefore enables a student with 240 Level 4 and 5 CAT points to complete an honours degree before progressing on to teaching training, if that is what they wish to do, or to other professional employment.
The course has been designed to meet the needs of anyone currently working with young children or people in any professional context that involves learning.
This includes anyone considering working in educational settings such as: nurseries, schools, colleges, academies, museums and art galleries, youth services and education departments.
If you are an Early Years practitioner or member of support staff such as a teaching assistant or a volunteer in an educational setting and are engaged in work with children and young people, then this course could be for you. The aim of the course is to deepen your professional understanding and knowledge through academic study as a reflective practitioner. Attendance is four hours per week over the course of 3 semesters .
On successful completion of study, you will be will awarded: BA (Hons) Education
This degree will prepare you for many types of employment and is supported by employers within the industry. Graduates from our Education degree have progressed into primary Teacher Training, early years teaching, social work, further education, charity work and management. Attendance is four hours per week from September to July.
