This part-time Medical Education PgCert is designed for busy medical professionals who wish to build their skills as a clinical educator but need a flexible course that can work around their other commitments. You develop your competence as a clinical educator in both professional practice and educational settings, with a focus on contemporary practice.
To take this course, you must have a relevant qualification in the field and be working in the profession.
Course accreditation
This course is accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators as an 'Accreditation Plus' course, meeting the professional standards for medical, dental and veterinary educators. Students enrolled on this course are entitled to apply for 12 months free Associate Membership of AoME and can apply for full Membership through a shortened route.

Each unit combines study days and live online sessions that range over the semester with online learning and supported self-directed study.

The PgCert Medical Education includes 2 units, over two semesters.*
Semester 1: Clinical education in practice – Develop the informed approach to teaching, learning and assessment required to be an effective and innovative educator.
Semester 2: Education perspectives for the workplace – Examine contemporary educational perspectives in higher and professional education for medicine and health professions.
*All units are core, with face-to-face contact taking place at Bedford campus.
Students wishing to complete their Master’s, there is the option to continue on to our PgDip/MA Medical Education.
Applicants should have a good undergraduate degree at Honours level, or equivalent.
