The NCFE Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (Further Education and Skills) is a nationally recognised teaching qualification for those looking to pursue a career in post-16 education, including colleges, sixth forms, adult and community learning, and work-based training. This programme is designed to equip trainee teachers and trainers with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to plan, deliver, and evaluate inclusive teaching and learning.
The course covers a broad range of professional teaching practices, including curriculum planning, assessment strategies, classroom management, and understanding of wider policy and educational frameworks. Trainees will also undertake a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice and receive support from an experienced subject mentor throughout their placement.
Ideal for those already working in a teaching role or seeking to transition into further education, this diploma meets the professional standards required for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, once completed and combined with professional formation through the Society for Education and Training (SET).

Assessment for the NCFE Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is both practical and theoretical, designed to demonstrate the trainee's competence in teaching and reflective practice. The key assessment methods include:
Written assignments
Teaching practice observations (minimum of 8, totalling at least 8 hours)
Lesson planning and resource development
Reflective journals and self-evaluations
Peer and mentor feedback
Portfolio of evidence (compiling all completed work and evidence of teaching practice)
All assessments are internally assessed and externally moderated to ensure national standards are met.
