Course summary

Drwy ddewis astudio Hanes ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth byddwch yn astudio un o’r pynciau mwyaf gwerthfawr. Mae’r rhan fwyaf ohonom ni’n chwilfrydig am y gorffennol a’r ffordd mae cymdeithasau dynol wedi esblygu dros amser. Bydd gradd mewn Hanes yn caniatáu i chi osod y gorffennol mewn persbectif a’ch arfogi eich hun â sgiliau dadansoddol dehongli, dadansoddi a chyfathrebu sydd mor hanfodol mewn bywyd bob dydd ac y mae cyflogwyr yn awyddus iawn i’w canfod.

Mae Hanes wedi’i ddysgu yn Aberystwyth ers 1872, sy’n golygu mai ein hadran yw’r hynaf yng Nghymru ac un o’r blaenaf ym Mhrydain. Mae ein graddau’n arloesol sy’n sicrhau y cewch y cymhwyster gorau.

Fe’n graddiwyd yn uchel gan ein myfyrwyr yn yr Arolwg Blynyddol o Fyfyrwyr (NSS). Mae ein meysydd pwnc yn amrywio o hanes cynnar i hanes modern, hanes gwleidyddol, hanes cymdeithasol, hanes economaidd a diwylliannol.

Mae gennym lyfrgell hawlfraint ar y campws, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru. Mae gan ein hadran gysylltiadau cryf gyda’r sector treftadaeth, a phortffolio sefydledig o leoliadau myfyrwyr. Yn y gorffennol, mae myfyrwyr wedi treulio hyd at dair wythnos yn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru (gan gynnwys cyfleoedd cyfrwng Cymraeg), Comisiwn Brenhinol Henebion Cymru, a Chymdeithas yr Hynafiaethwyr yn Llundain. Mae’r lleoliadau hyn yn cynnig cyfle i gael profiad ymarferol a dealltwriaeth o’r sector treftadaeth, ac yn werthfawr iawn ar unrhyw CV!

Trydar gan fyfyrwyr ar leoliad yn 2014 gyda Chymdeithas yr Hynafiaethwyr: ‘Wedi gweld tri chopi o’r Magna Carta ar unwaith heddiw!’ ‘Clod i Brifysgol Aber am fy helpu i gael y lleoliad – methu aros tan fory’. Mae ein graddedigion wedi bod yn llwyddiannus yn sicrhau proffesiwn mewn llawer o feysydd gwahanol;
Addysg; Y Gyfraith; Archifwyr; Cyhoeddwyr; Gwleidyddion; Gweision Sifil; Y Cyfryngau; Y Lluoedd Arfog; Entrepreneuriaid.
