Course summary

This course is for individuals wishing to develop higher-level professional skills relevant to the mechanical engineering sector.
The programme team uses a combination of traditional classroom teaching, open learning and research-based experiential learning, laboratory experiments and demonstrations, industry standard IT applications and group activities.

The course comprises core and specialist units which are all mandatory. The units are:

5006: Further Mathematics
5002: Professional Engineering Management
5003: Advanced Mechanical Principles
5004: Virtual Engineering
5005: Further Thermodynamics
5015: Manufacturing Systems Engineering
5016: Lean Manufacturing
5023: Thermofluids

This course is taught one day a week, normally over 30 weeks per academic year. The course duration is expected to be 18 months.
