The one-year MSc by Research in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh is a postgraduate degree that allows you to conduct in-depth research in a specific area of physics and astronomy.
The programme includes:
independent research project with a supervisor
comprehensive literature review, research methods, data analysis, and conclusions
core training in research skills, such as research methods, data analysis, and academic writing
specialised training sessions, workshops, or conferences related to the research area
dissertation (15,000-20,000 words)

This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.
