Become a surveyor of the future. Our Building Surveying (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) degree course will give you all the training you need to enter the dynamic and rapidly advancing world of the built environment. As a surveying practitioner, you will be responsible for helping to shape what the buildings of the future look like, whether you’re working in property trading, refurbishment or new project planning. You will understand how buildings work, how constructions projects progress, and you will be responsible for the social impact these buildings have on their surrounding environment.
A course designed for you. This course has been carefully crafted to give students who cannot apply directly to one of our non-foundation degrees all the skills they need to succeed in the built environment sector. During the first year you will be introduced to a wide variety of transferrable study skills, taught via a range of methods focusing on active learning and authentic student involvement. From technical drawing to software skills, presenting to practical work, every element of this curriculum has been curated with your academic development in mind. This means this course is also ideal for mature students looking to update their experience.
Step onto campus every time you set foot in London. One of the world’s greatest construction projects is happening right on our doorstep, and we will make every effort to introduce you to it. From guest lectures to practical projects and industry work experience, we will give you as much real-world experience as possible, so you can graduate already familiar with the built environment industry and your place in it. When you’re not gaining direct industry experience, you will be learning how to pitch new project ideas and use industry-standard software. Everything we do will transform you into the ideal construction candidate.
Build on solid foundations. After completing the first year of your foundation course, you will move on to start the rest of your degree alongside all the students studying the three-year Building Surveying course. Your foundation year will put you in the best possible position to continue your studies for the remaining three years and graduate successfully as a professional of building surveying.
