Course summary

This three year programme is designed to provide you with a firm grounding in the science, technology and business applicable to a marine sports career.
This programme can also be studied as a one year top-up where you will complete Year 3 only. Based at our main Cornwall College Newquay campus, and at our premises on Tolcarne Beach in Newquay, you will have the opportunity to study a number of different modules relating to the ocean environment in which you practice your sport.
There are also modules that will allow you the opportunity to gain key qualifications in your particular area of expertise; enhancing your employability in what is a competitive industry. Alongside this the essential business, management, transferable and soft skills, which are key to graduate level employment, will be embedded in a number of modules. These include event and expedition management and business and enterprise.

Sustainability of marine sector sporting activities and environmental awareness will be considered alongside new and developing technology in the industry.
This programme will be taught in a variety of modes including lectures, practicals, workshops and block delivery both in and by industry. Assessment is via a combination of assignments, presentations, exams, case studies and practical work.

Qualification requirements

240 credits with 120 at level 5 from a relevant Foundation Degree, HND, or equivalent in an appropriate subject. All qualifications and subject grades will be considered on an individual basis. HND qualifications may require additional bridging modules.
