Our Criminology degree looks at the social phenomenon of crime and its impact on society as a whole. The BSc (Hons) Criminology programme will provide the opportunity for you to develop knowledge of theory of Criminology, develop advanced research methods skills and integrate advanced knowledge of law and politics. At the end of the degree you will transform from someone interested in Criminology to a social scientist who can conduct research in this field. The course is designed to take you from the core discipline knowledge of theory and empirical findings relevant to deviant behaviour to an in-depth understanding of criminology with the opportunity to conduct an independent dissertation project.
You'll be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills that will facilitate entry into a variety of criminal justice careers including the probation work, police service, youth work and the prison service. The justice system, police work, prison, HM Revenue and Customs, Home Office and other relevant support roles in crime-related work are also potential employment routes.
This particular option includes an integrated foundation year to provide a solid grounding to prepare applicants who have not achieved the normal level of entry qualifications.
