Accounting and Finance with a Foundation Year (January Start)

With a strong focus on sustainability and addressing global challenges such as climate finance, international tax avoidance and FinTech in emerging markets, you will explore the social, ethical and global context of Accounting and Finance, and gain hands-on experience with financial data platforms, exposure to live financial briefs and simulations, and the use of professional tools in our state-of-the-art Finance Lab.

Our degree will give you a head start in achieving Chartered Accountant status, and our Year in Industry, Year Abroad and Foundation Year course options give you the opportunity to tailor your study experience to your needs and career ambitions, ready for an exciting career in Accounting and Finance.

The optional Foundation Year for this programme can give you an exciting introduction to higher education, setting you up with the skills, confidence, and knowledge that you will need to be successful in your undergraduate degree. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education, or are returning to education after a gap. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress onto Year 1.

In Year 0, you will typically study areas including: Maths and Stats; Foundations of Business and Management; Critical Thinking; Interactive Learning Skills and Communication; Accounting and Finance; Economics.

In Year 1, you will typically study areas including: Foundations of Financial Accounting; Analytical and Digital Skills; The Economy and Society; Business Law and Professional Ethics; Foundations of Management Accounting; Financial Markets and Systems.

In Year 2, you will typically study areas including: Corporate Finance; Management Accounting; Financial Accounting; Financial Markets and Institutions; Problems and Decision-Making in Economics; Mathematical Economics; Corporate Governance and Ethics; Organisational Behaviour.

In Year 3, you will typically study areas including: Management Accounting 2; Financial Accounting 2; Taxation; Auditing; Forensic Accounting; International Financial Management; Law of International Corporate Governance; Business and Employment Law.
