Course summary
Our intensive and practical course focuses on fundamental technical acting techniques, while putting you at the cutting edge of acting for screen and digital platforms.
You work with traditional and emerging technologies to create a diverse set of skills. These include TV, film, online, voice for audio (animation, ADR, immersive audio) and motion capture (including VR). You also develop off-camera skills as a writer, director and producer while collaborating with other students on productions as you compile a varied and well-rounded professional media portfolio.

Assessment method
Your assessment takes place during practical classes and rehearsals, performances and your reflective tasks. Overall, assessment is based on applications of technique in performance situations, either in front of an audience or in workshops.
The coursework element is focussed on your future career, your working environment and critical life skills. In your third year you undertake an optional practical or written research project. Again, career focussed and chosen by you.

80% practical work / 20% written coursework

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - 64 points
From level 3 study. Excludes AS/A1 level grades.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and Maths are also required. Other equivalent level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualifications are also considered.
A level - CC
Tariff points should come from 2 A levels at grade C or above
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MPP
Scottish Higher
Tariff points may come from a combination of highers, usually 5.

LIPA will charge the maximum approved tuition fee per year. The tuition fee shown above for home students is for 2026 entry and is still subject to parliamentary procedure. In England and Wales, tuition fees for home undergraduate students are subject to the government fee cap, which the government has announced will be £9,790 for the 2026/27 academic year and £10,050 for the 2027/28 academic year (subject to parliamentary approval). Maximum tuition fee levels for the 2028/29 academic year and beyond have not yet been set. Fees may change in line with inflation and/or any adjustments to the government fee cap.
