Course summary

Our degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering focuses on the design and operation of marine vehicles and offshore infrastructure. You'll learn how to design specialist systems using the latest technologies.

We design our curriculum and projects with leading companies. You'll take part in our annual design pitch, where you can showcase your project work to industry partners.

You’ll work on projects in multidisciplinary teams, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as energy applications, marine vehicles, marine technologies, and ship design. You’ll develop the technical and professional skills needed for the digital age.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - Not accepted

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits P: 0 credits

At least 30 level 3 credits at Distinction to include 15 level 3 credits in mathematics (including differential and integral calculus) and 15 level 3 credits at Merit.

Scottish Higher - Not accepted

Scottish Advanced Higher - ABB

ABB including Mathematics. Two Highers at the required grade (in different subjects to those offered at Advanced Higher) may replace a third Advanced Higher. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting. Students without Advanced Higher Mathematics will be considered for Engineering Foundation Year only.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points

32 points with Mathematics at Higher Level grade 5.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - Not accepted

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, M2, M2

D3,M2,M2 in Principal Subjects including Mathematics
