Course summary

This is a 'top-up' course for candidates who have already achieved a HND, Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification and wish to gain a full Honours degree in Business and Management. There is a strong theme of both international business and ethics in each taught module.

Assessment method

The assessment strategy is designed as an integral part of a rich teaching and learning context which aims to provide:

  1. A well-structured knowledge base
  2. An appropriate motivational context
  3. Learner activity, including interaction with others
  4. Self-monitoring. (Biggs 2003)
    In order to meet these aims, the assessments portfolio contains a diverse range of tasks and activities which will address
    differing learning and sensory styles including: formal examinations, individual self-reflection, individual and group written, oral
    and poster presentations. Furthermore students will engage with multiple modes for developing their assigned work and for its
    presentation.
    Throughout the course a range of formative assessment activities will be used to check a student’s or students’ understanding.
    These activities include feedback and questioning from in class activities, compositions of group blogs and Wikis which will
    also enable students to become familiar with the very latest communication tools and techniques, online quizzes and progress
    reviews with academic staff. Where appropriate the submission of ‘drafts’ will be encouraged for formative feedback. Assessment methods include Reports, Poster Presentation, Examination, Presentation

UCAS Tariff

You will need a merit profile (a minimum of 50% of module grades at merit or above), normally in either a foundation degree or HNC/HND or equivalent with a strong business content or for qualifications gained at an overseas institution, the qualifications must be attained at a level deemed equivalent to the above and applicants be able to converse in the English language at IELTS Level 6.0 or above.
