Course summary

In this HNC/HTQ course, you will learn the latest construction methods, practical and theoretical skills, and work with modern technology and software used in the industry. You will study construction design projects, sustainability, off-site manufacturing, modern construction methods, cost control, building information modelling, digital applications, alternative energy principles, and tender and procurement processes. This course is part of the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology (SYIoT).

The course content includes:

Construction design projects (set by Pearson and based on live working projects).
The construction environment, considering all environmental factors with a focus on sustainability aspects.
Principles of off-site manufacture
The potential of Modern methods of construction to transform the industry.
Impact on cost control and the environment and address the housing shortages.
Building information modelling (BIM).
Digital applications for BIM and construction information.
Principles of alternative energy.
Tender and procurement.

Entry requirements

You will require an existing Construction Level 3 qualification such as a BTEC Level 3 or T Level, or an Access to Construction qualification.
Maths at GCSE Grade 4/C or above.
Prior experience of working in the Construction industry would be beneficial.

All applicants will be required to attend an interview with the course tutor

You will need to have GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above
