This MA in Film Studies focuses on the evolution of cinema, allowing you to examine the medium as art, a business, and a cultural/historical artifact from its earliest images to the present day. • Location: The course is based at the Avenue Campus.
• Duration: Full-time study is 12 months (8 months taught, 4 months for dissertation). It is also available part-time over two or more years.

Compulsory modules include: Classical Film Theory and Textual Analysis; Post-Classical Film Theory: Film History and Cinephilia, Reseach in Film Studies. Optional modules include: Auteur filmmakers: case studies in cinema; East Asian Noir: Crime and the City; Film Stardom and Celebrity Culture; Film Studies Individually Negotiated Topic; The Supernatural in Audiovisual Culture.
