Course summary

Are you fascinated by crime, justice, and the forces that shape our world? BSc Criminology and Sociology gives you the chance to explore these two cutting-edge disciplines together, so you can understand not just what happens in society, but why.

From day one, you’ll dive into the big questions: what causes crime? How do social divisions and digital culture change the way we live? What can we do to create a fairer, safer world? You’ll truly start make a difference as soon as you enter the classroom with us.

In your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation in criminology and sociology, exploring theories, crime policy and social transformations. You’ll also develop research skills, and enhance them in your second year so you can use them to create your own independent project in your final year.

Make the degree your own – you can stay on the combined route or specialise in one of three exciting pathways:

  • Justice Studies

  • Quantitative Methods

  • Global Youth Justice

As well as this, you’ll have the chance to take on work experience and study abroad opportunities to broaden your horizons and enhance your employability.

We welcome applications from students undertaking T level qualifications. Eligible applicants will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of Merit as a condition of offer

Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to GCE A level are also considered.

A maximum of three A level-equivalent qualifications will be accepted towards meeting the UCAS tariff requirement.

AS levels, or qualifications equivalent to AS level, are not accepted. The Extended Project qualification (EPQ) may be accepted towards entry, in conjunction with two A-level equivalent qualifications.

Additional fee information

Tuition fees for the 2027/28 academic year are still being finalised for all courses.

The standard UK and Channel Islands full-time fee will be £10,050 in academic year 2027/28, subject to parliamentary approval.
