Course summary

This comprehensive and broad-ranging history degree offers you the flexibility to choose the options that fascinate you most. Our expertise spans centuries and continents, covering British and European history, as well as the history of North and South America, and East Asia. You will explore and evaluate different forms of historical evidence, and develop skills in critical analysis, communication and research.

A level - AAB

including History. Applicants offering a Modern Language are welcomed. General Studies accepted.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

BTECs considered alongside History A level.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits

15 Level 3 credits should be History or History-related. If unable to take history at Level 3 a Social Science subject should be taken instead and evidence of reading around the subject will be required.

Scottish Higher - AAABB

Including History at Higher Grade. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 34 points

History required at Higher Level, at grade 6 or above.

Extended Project

If you offer the Level 3 Extended Project Qualification in a topic relevant to the degree programme, we will vary our offer to recognise this.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H2, H2, H3

including History.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D2, D3, D3

in Principal Subjects including History.
