Practical skills are a crucial part of science education and therefore will be a requirement to pass the practical element of any science A Level taken. Where applicants are applying for science and related degrees, this is likely to be made explicit in the offer you will receive.

Applicants taking A Levels are normally expected to offer three full A Levels. If you’re taking more than three A Levels, any offer will be based on three A Levels, and any additional A Levels won’t be included in your offer. Any offer will normally be based on three A Levels taken in the same sitting and based on your qualification portfolio. Your offer will stipulate which subjects and the grades required.

We will accept the Health pathway only and require an overall grade of Distinction.

Contextual offers do not currently apply to applicants offering T-Level qualifications. Applicants meeting our contextual admissions criteria will not be made a reduced offer.

T Level applicants who meet our contextual admissions criteria, and who have been predicted a Merit, may be made an aspirational offer at the standard entry requirements of the course e.g., an offer subject to them achieving an overall grade of Distinction.

We normally require grades BBCCC in five suitable Scottish Higher level subjects (including at least one science or science related subject (eg Chemistry, Biology and Psychology) and one Advanced Higher at grade B/C.

English Language and Mathematics not taken at Higher/Advanced Higher must have been achieved at SCQF level 5 (minimum National 5 grade C / Intermediate 2 grade C / Standard Grade Credit level grade 3).

AS level results are not considered as part of the standard admissions process at The University of Manchester.

We require a QAA-recognised Access to HE diploma (a minimum of 60 credits overall with at least 45 at Level 3).

The specific course requirements are: of the 45 credits at level 3, 30 must be at Distinction grade and the remaining 15 credits at merit grade. Also, 30 of the 45 level 3 credits must be in science or health-science related subjects. You must also have 5 GCSE subjects at Grade C/4 to include English Language, Mathematics and Science.

We may also consider other factors on an individual basis, such as additional educational achievements, life experience and work related skills. If you are a mature applicant and do not meet the GCSE requirements, please contact the admissions team directly.

Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including a minimum of five GCSES at grade 4 (C). These must include English Language, Mathematics and Science. GCSE/IGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/IGCSE English Language.

Please note that if you hold English as a second language IGCSE qualification, we may also require you to offer one of our a cceptable equivalent English Language qualifications  or achieve a higher grade in your IGCSE than the one stated above. Please contact the admissions team in your academic School/Department for clarification.

We do not accept Functional Skills 2 or equivalent qualifications in place of GCSE English and Maths.

We consider the Technical Diploma for entry. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full Technical Diploma with grades DM alongside an A-level at grade C. Either the Technical Diploma or the A-level must be in a science or health-related subject such as Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Applied Science or Health and Social Care.

30 points overall. 5 , 4,4 in Higher Level subjects including at least one science related subject from Biology, Chemistry, Sports and Health Science or Psychology.

Applicants studying the International Baccalaureate Career Related Programme (IBCP) should contact the admissions team prior to applying so that their academic profile can be considered.

We welcome and recognise the value of the Baccalaureate Wales and accept the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (replacing the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate from September 2023)

We require minimum grade C from the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales.

For applicants who have studied the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate, this qualification will still be accepted in lieu of one A-level (normally the lowest A-level grade listed).

We consider the National Foundation Diploma for entry. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Foundation Diploma with grade D alongside two A-levels both at grade C. Either the National Foundation Diploma or one of the A-levels must be in a science or health-related subject such as Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Applied Science or Health and Social Care.
