Course summary

EDUCATION (SECONDARY) - GRADUATES ONLY:- If you are thinking about saying ‘yes’ to making a difference by becoming a teacher, this Masters-level (postgraduate) qualification is the first step on your journey. Successful completion of the postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) at the University of Glasgow will take you to the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s Standard for Provisional Registration. If you are from Scotland, other parts of the UK or the Republic of Ireland, or are in some categories of EU status, you are then eligible to enter the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS). The TIS guarantees a one-year teaching post through which you can achieve GTCS Standard for Full Registration. The GTCS Flexible Route is also open to you.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
