This programme offers an in-depth education in artificial intelligence. Grounded in the underlying computer science principles on which technical innovations such as machine learning are built, you will explore how computational techniques can be used to produce the artificially intelligent agents and tools that are being used to tackle the fundamental human issues of the modern age. Our distinctive programme offers an interdisciplinary approach that is delivered by world-leading experts in the development and application of AI. You will learn the theoretical principles behind modern AI, as well as learning through hands-on work in our state-of-the-art laboratories where you will turn theory into practice. You will undertake a series of projects that will allow you to work on the latest in AI research, development, and application, and you will graduate with a depth of understanding that is urgently needed by industry, as well as the learning foundations to adopt and create the next generation of AI technology.
The following entry points are available for this course:
GCE AL Maths, Pure Maths or Further Maths grade C. We will also accept AS Maths at A or Core Maths at A in lieu of A-level Maths.
Applicants studying one of the following BTEC Extended Diplomas will be considered without a GCE A-Level Maths subject: Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computing, and Information Technology.
Pass the Access to HE Diploma with 18 L3 credits at Distinction grade and 27 L3 credits at Merit Grade. This must include 12 L3 credits in Maths at pass Grade. Please also see our GCSE requirements.
Higher level Maths, Pure Maths or Further Maths grade C.
Advanced Higher Maths, Pure Maths or Further Maths grade C.
Applicants will be considered with IB 26 OR 544 in three Higher Level subjects. All applicants will be required to have Grade 4 in HL Maths.
In support of the university’s Access and Participation Plan this course is only open to UK domiciled students who meet our contextual offer eligibility criteria and who may not have met the entry requirements for first year entry or have not been able to take A level Mathematics alongside a BTEC L3 Extended Diploma.
