Art galleries and museums bring individuals together to share the lived experiences, identities and cultures of others. They help foster conversations and highlight the meaningful bonds and accomplishments that tie us all together. Effective stewardship of these institutions enhances the experience of visitors, ensuring collections are visible, accessible and resonate with audiences.

By studying Art Gallery and Museum Studies MA, you’ll develop your understanding of key ideas and issues in curatorship, museology and museum management. You'll apply your learned knowledge in developing innovative approaches to curation, interpretation and engaging audiences, while building the knowledge and skills for a successful career in the museum and art gallery sector.

You’ll explore and challenge key ideas that have shaped traditional museum practice. You'll also consider how material culture has been represented and interpreted by historians and cultural theorists.
