Our Psychology with Counselling degree will help you pursue a career where you can help people understand and work through their problems.

The course will explore a range of psychological and counselling approaches, as you develop your own counselling skills. You'll gain excellent observation skills, critical thinking and analysis, plus a range of people skills.

You’ll learn about different approaches and techniques to support people dealing with a wide range of mental health issues. This includes bereavement, domestic violence, relationship issues and much more.

What you'll do

  • While you’ll study core modules in both psychology and counselling, you’ll also have the flexibility to choose optional modules in other areas of psychology.

  • You can choose to study abroad or complete a placement year, helping you gain real-world experience.

  • In your final year, you’ll take on a research project where you can take an in-depth look at a topic of your choice.

Future Careers

You will gain excellent observation, critical thinking and people skills, which are highly sought after by employers. You’ll find our graduates working with people to resolve social and emotional problems.

You'll be in a good position to apply for postgraduate study if you want to pursue a clinical role in psychology or counselling.

You could also apply for a number of other roles, including:

  • Expressive arts therapist

  • Social workers

  • Police or prison roles
