Course summary

The course has been developed to meet the growing demand of Design Engineers who can think creatively about challenges faced by industry, and develop innovative solutions to solve these challenges.

The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to transform ideas into real, fully-functioning products. You will learn how to think creatively, while combining your technical engineering expertise, to enhance and improve how a business performs and operates.

You will solve real-world problems, analysing and evaluating the design, specification, manufacturing technologies, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical equipment and associated systems

Standard Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - BCC

to include Mathematics or Physics, Design Technology, Electronics, or Engineering. GCSE English at grade 5/C or above is required if not held at A Level.

Scottish Higher - BBBC

to include Maths OR Engineering Science, Physics or Technological Studies. English at National 5 grade C or above is required if not held at Higher.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 27 points

to include Higher Level Maths OR Physics, one of which must be at grade 6 and one at grade 5. English is required at a minimum of Standard Level grade 4.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H2, H3, H3, H3

to include Maths OR Physics or Technological Studies. English at grade O3 or above is required if not held at Higher.

T Level - P

in an Engineering related discipline.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To include one from Engineering Science, Maths, Physics or Technological Studies. English at National 5 grade C or above is required if not held at Higher.

English language requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.
